OMJ 109
OMJ 109
One More Japa.
Something I started a few years ago and now I can’t stop. But this time it’s a healthy sublimation.
There are 108 japa prayer or mediation beads on a thread - a japa-mala. I made one once before, 108 individual digital art works. I hung it on the blockchain.
I like how the digital medium has ‘one foot’ in the physical and the other is totally immaterial.
For me, there is a definite meditative quality to the creation of these abstracts. I’d like to think that sense of transcendence is shared by each piece.
I need to take photographs but I want to make these OMJ’s.
Asking myself, ‘In a world in which I am without inhibitions or uncertainties or fear what would I want to daydream into?’
Like a garden full of flowers, there’s colour and asymmetry and juxtaposition. For me, these images are an assemblage of wholeness. They make me feel happy, I am enjoying myself and I’m starting to realise that that is reason enough.
I have them printed onto beautiful Hahnemühle photorag archival paper which measures 500× 500 mm.
I hand sign and number each of the 5 editions.
